§ 1

The Laboratory for the Study of Knowledge-Creative Practices in Local Cultures, hereinafter referred to as "the Laboratory", is an organisational unit of the Department of Performance Studies at the Faculty of Polish Studies of Jagiellonian University.
§ 2

1. The task of the Laboratory is to initiate, conduct and disseminate the results of interdisciplinary research on knowledge-creative practices, i.e. activities of a creative and cognitive nature, of local cultures, including indigenous, displaced and migrant communities and other forms of collective local knowledge-creative practices, e.g. urban or rural artistic collectives, whose main field of activity is a locally situated cognitive perspective. 
2. The laboratory carries out the tasks specified in paragraph (1) through the following activities:
1) conducting systematic research on the forms of knowledge-creative practices of Polish and European local cultures today and in the past, on the ways in which they are reproduced and transformed, on the visions of the past and future they generate, on how they change both the ways of understanding and producing knowledge, and how they influence the geopolitics of knowledge and the ways of its decolonisation, as well as how they redefine the epistemic perspectives of local artistic and cultural practices;
2) publishing the results of research in the form of scholarly works (articles and/or monographs), including both original sketches and collective works resulting from the research of teams, groups and research platforms specially established for this purpose;
3) organisation and co-organisation of lectures, discussion panels and meetings with invited researchers dealing with knowledge-creative practices of local cultures;
4) organising and co-organising scientific conferences ( domestic and and international) and seminars focused on issues related to knowledge-creative practices of local cultures;
5) creation of research platforms and teams, both intra- and interdepartmental, within the Jagiellonian University and between the university and local cultural communities in Poland and Europe, as well as domestic and foreign scientific centres, for which research on knowledge-creative practices of local cultures is relevant (e.g. the University of Silesia, the Ivan Franko National University in Lviv and the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona); 
6) Cooperation with organisations promoting education in the field of local knowledge-creative practices, e.g. Polish-Ukrainian Youth Exchange Council, Polish-Lithuanian Youth Exchange Council and within the Erasmus+ programme;
7) popularising knowledge on knowledge-creative practices of local cultures by organising workshops for undergraduate and graduate students;
8) acquisition and implementation of research grants (national and international) focused on issues related to the knowledge-creative practices of local cultures.

3. These knowledge-creative practices of local cultures will be researched using methodological tools drawn from various fields and disciplines: performance studies, theatre studies, dialectology, (de)postcolonial studies, feminist studies, sociology, anthropology, (auto)ethnography.

§ 3

1. The head of the Laboratory may be an academic staff member employed at the Department of Performance Studies of the Faculty of Polish Studies at the Jagiellonian University, for whom the Jagiellonian University is the principal place of work, holding at least a post-doctoral degree in the humanities, subject to § 111 of the Articles of Association of the Jagiellonian University.
2. The Head of the Laboratory is appointed by the Rector of the Jagiellonian University at the request of the Dean of the Faculty of Polish Studies at the Jagiellonian University, with the opinion of the Council of the Faculty of Polish Studies at the Jagiellonian University.

§ 4

1. The activities of the Studio are financed from the budget of the Department of Performance Studies of the Faculty of Polish Studies at Jagiellonian University.
2. The activity of the Laboratory may also be financed from external sources, in particular from:
1) grants obtained from Polish and foreign institutions;
2) voluntary donations of third parties for the benefit of the Laboratory;
3) funds obtained within the framework of cooperation with external entities;
4) other sources related to the activity of the Laboratory.

§ 5

1. The assets of the Laboratory shall constitute a separate part of the property of the Jagiellonian University and shall be managed in accordance with the rules in force at the Jagiellonian University.
2. Intellectual and industrial property created as a result of the activity of the Studio shall be managed in accordance with the rules in force at the Jagiellonian University concerning intellectual property and legal protection of intellectual property.
